Tanzania, East Africa

Imagine a handpicked wildlife experience that takes you out of the vehicle and away from the crowds. This is exactly what you can expect with our Tanzania photo safari packages.

Wildlife of Tanzania

Experience the land where the elephants outnumber people in Tarangire National Park and get up close and personal with chimpanzees in the Mahale Mountains.

Stay for the Great Migration and watch as nearly two million wildebeest, zebra and gazelle make their way through the Savanna. And you can bet that alpha predators like lions and cheetah aren’t far behind.

If you’re looking to photograph wildlife, Tanzania is among the best places in the world to visit. Let us know what type of wildlife you’re most interested in seeing, and we’ll tailor your trip to make the most out of every minute.

Together, we’ll design a tour that includes the landscapes and the wildlife you’re after.
If you want to see a diverse array of wildlife, we’ll tour through Ruaha National Park where the Ruaha river draws wildlife of all types. Most people visit Tanzania for the large mammals, but this country also has an impressive population of feathered friends. If you’re a bird-watcher (or into bird photography), you’ll be delighted to know that there are about 100 known species of birds in Tanzania, from the tiny honey bird to the massive ostrich.

Landscapes of Tanzania

Tanzania is a country that’s rich in many things, including flora and fauna. Expect bold and beautiful colors from more than 10 thousand recorded species of flowers and plants.

This is the largest country in East Africa and its landscape is extremely diverse. Expect coastlines (Tanzania lies on the Indian Ocean), lakes, mountains, planes and valleys and savannahs. Tanzania is also the home of Mount Kilimanjaro, which peaks at 5,895 meters.

Even if you’re more interested in beautiful landscapes for your Tanzanian safari, you’ll still get to see some wildlife. You’ll find wildlife roaming virtually anywhere in this seemingly untouched paradise.

People of Tanzania

When you first had the idea for a Tanzanian safari, you probably were thinking about the wildlife or landscapes, but there’s one more reason to consider this African country along your journey: the people.
Here’s your chance to get to know the people who are known to be the friendliest in all of Africa. The first thing you’ll notice is that the Tanzanian people are eager to help and very polite. They love children and enjoy a friendly chat with tourists.

When you visit a land that’s vastly different from your own, you may expect to feel like an outsider. And while the cultural differences will be extremely apparent, you will feel overwhelmingly welcome.

The Tanzanian people are often very interested to learn about your culture. They want to know what your life is like. They want to hear about your family. These refreshing conversations will make you feel almost like you belong in this faraway land.

But there are a few things you should know…

As always when traveling, it’s important to respect the culture of the local people. Public displays of affection between men and women are considered inappropriate, so avoid holding hands, hugging or kissing your spouse in public.

You can get along just fine speaking English throughout your trip because you’ll have a tour guide to translate. But you should know that most people speak only Swahili. This isn’t a must, but you’ll make greater connections with the locals if you can speak a few words of Swahili. It’s definitely worth the effort.

Safety in Tanzania

On any African safari, safety is an important consideration. Fortunately, Tanzania is one of the safest countries in East Africa. It’s also one of the safest in all of Africa.

We do, however, recommend that you engage the services of a guide if you want to explore the country, the city or the market, whether during the day or in the evening. They know their way around, they know the country, they speak the language and they can help you when you want to buy souvenirs or other items of your interest.

We do not recommend walking the streets at night alone. On any tour, it is always wise to listen to your inner voice, your intuition. Theft does happen in Tanzania. Use common sense to protect yourself and your valuables, and you should have a safe and happy tour.
